Why Choose Us  for Family Systems Theory ABA Therapy

How to Know if Blossoming Behavior is the Right Choice for You

Finding the right behavior therapists and analysts to work with you, your family, and your caregivers is important—and we recognize that. That’s why we’ve built an approach that creates a foundation of empathy, trust, compassion and professionalism. Let’s talk about our four pillars.

Implementing a Science-Meets-Human Approach

As experts in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), we recognize the science behind what we do and why it works. We also know that you are the expert of you, your family, and your loved ones. Our approach is designed to pair science with the human element of what we’re doing, incorporating the ups and downs and day-to-day lessons that come with any child learning a new way of living. Additionally, we involve the entire family in our care plan, ensuring everyone from you, the parent, to brothers, sisters, and the child with autism themselves have their questions answered and their needs accommodated.

Building a Practice That Focuses on Results

No two families are alike, which is why we offer a personal approach you may not find with larger companies. We connect you with the right practitioner to build the right treatment plan, and that plan is modified as the results of it are seen in person. We know the difference between something that needs time, and something that just isn’t working, and we adjust accordingly to ensure we’re on a path of success. This custom, results-based focus ensures that you and your family feel like they are growing in the right direction every day.

Putting Culture at the Heart of Our Model-Diversity and Equity Initiatives

We’re more than applied behavior analysts and therapists, we’re cultural diversity advocates. The founders of Blossoming Behavior, Dr. Stephanie Augustin and Shoba Bharratt-Gigantino are both women of color, and come from immigrant families. We recognize there are cultural differences in every family, and we work with therapists who spend time understanding what’s important to your family and culture and build a care and treatment plans around it. We even offer treatment in different languages.

Blossoming Behavior is committed to working with people from diverse backgrounds (cultural, ethnic, racial, gender, etc.) We recognize that part of doing the work in our field is ensuring that all voices are heard regardless of where the person comes from, what language they speak, or what their beliefs and values are. We believe that this is what makes our organization successful as the more voices are heard, the better we can service our communities. For this reason, our organization is dedicated to ensuring that all backgrounds and cultures are represented in the work that we do. Our approach to diversity is simple: it’s about embracing everyone. From cultivating a culture where all employees can bring their best selves to work to deploying diversity initiatives that support all, we’re doing what it takes to build a more equitable workplace and world, both now and in the future.

Collaborating With the Entire Family

While we work with individuals who have autism spectrum disorder or a neurodivergent condition, our practitioners ensure the entire family and care team is incorporated into our therapeutic plan. They will need to come together to learn new ways of communicating, to understand the challenges ahead, and to navigate any obstacles along the way. Our practioners implement this holistic approach to ensure every member of the family—both by birth and chosen—has a piece of the care plan they can focus on. After all, learning how to grow together is the whole point of being a family.

Meet the Founders of Blossoming Behavior

Our visionaries and co-founders have created a practice that reflects the lessons they’ve learned from larger ABA firms. Stephanie and Shoba serve as your guide, from initial consult to pairing you with the perfect ABA therapist for your needs. Without further ado, meet the women that started it all:

Dr. Stephanie Augustin, LBA, BCBA | Co-Founder and CEO

Stephanie is a Licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 10 years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities and autism. After completing her Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University, she worked as a behavior specialist in group home settings. Additionally, she has worked in academia as an ABA instructor at the graduate school level and has worked in K-12 school settings as a behavioral consultant. Her post-Master’s clinical training in behavior analysis training was completed at Florida Institute of Technology.

Stephanie is also the co-founder of Blossoming Behavior Applied Behavior Analysts. She was awarded a doctor of education in March 2019 from Northeastern University for her dissertation entitled “A phenomenological analysis of autistic children receiving applied behavior analytic services: A culturally and linguistically diverse parents’ perspective.” Her research and practice interests include disseminating applied behavior analysis to under-served groups and culturally diverse populations.

Shoba Bharratt-Gigantino, MA, LBA, BCBA| Co-Founder and CCO

Shoba Bharratt-Gigantino is a Licensed Behavior Analyst who brings both a Psychology and Education background into her work in Applied Behavior Analysis. She was born in Guyana, South America and migrated to the United States as a teenager. Shoba holds a post-Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Hunter College, a Masters Degree in Human Development – Psychology from Teachers College Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University.

Her early affinity for the sciences led Shoba to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and working with children. Over the years of learning and working, she’s formed some of her most fulfilling relationships with individuals with autism and their families. Her goal is to continue bringing the life changing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to as many families and individuals as possible.
